Ron was born of Dutch parents at Wahroonga, New South Wales on 27th August 1958. He commenced his schooling in The Netherlands and, then completed his schooling in Sydney with the Parramatta Mercy Sisters and the Patrician Brothers. In 1979 Ron made his Profession as a Patrician Brother. He taught at Patrician Brothers Fairfield, Holy Cross at Ryde, and John Therry Catholic High School at Rosemeadow. Ron was the Formation Director for the Patrician Brothers. He was on the Brothers Leadership Team. Ron also worked as the Religious Education Consultant for the Southern Region of the Sydney Archdiocese.

In 2005 Ron was ordained as a priest for the Wollongong Diocese at Saint Francis Cathedral. He has served in the parishes of Ruse and Nowra. He was chaplain to the Berrima Women’s Corrections Facility. In 2006 he was appointed Dean of the Cathedral and Administrator of the Cathedral/Gwynneville parishes. In 2010 he was appointed as the Administrator of the Pastoral Region. He is a member of the Diocesan Schools Board, and the Diocesan Pastoral Planning Team. He is chaplain to the Dutch community.
