Role of the Office Manager
The Role of the Pastoral Region Manager
Mr Michael Dwyer is the manager for the Pastoral Region (Lumen Christi Catholic Parishes Wollongong). Michael’s greatest responsibility is the management of the financial management for each of the three parishes. All transactions and all records will be done at the Regional Office by Michael. He will present a quarterly report to the Combined Finance Council. The Bishop, Fr Ron and Mr Tom Smith are signatories for the cheques (the parish secretary is not a signatory) and they authorise payments.
All moneys collected from each of the four churches will be counted at the Regional Office and will be banked from that office. An enlarged “counters team” will be formed comprising members from each of the four communities. Moneys will be counted on Monday mornings. This procedure is in compliance with Diocesan Standards (2004) and is in place for safety, protection and accountability. The new way of counting and banking for the Pastoral Region commenced on 13 December 2010.
I am grateful to those parishioners from each of the three parishes who have volunteered as counters. A large team will mean that a roster can be drawn up asking people to count only once in the month. I invite more counters onto our new roster. Please see Fr Ron or contact Michael at the office.
I take this opportunity of inviting parishioners who are not already part of our Planned Giving to do so. Electronic Payment is available. The moneys from Planned Giving - as with all moneys collected - are allocated to the designated parish. A sign of the times is the fall in moneys collected in each of our parishes over the years. We need to build up our income so that we can continue to maintain our churches as well as grow in the evangelising works of each parish.
