Tom Smith came to Wollongong in 1990 as the Regional Director in TAFE and decided to remain living in Wollongong with his wife when he retired in 1994. He started working as a volunteer in 1995, firstly with the Diocese office and then with the Parish office.

His background is in Surveying, Civil Engineering and Technical Education
